Is there a way to start Q-Dir with a parameter of path for Explorer-Views?
The Quad-Directory-Explorer startup parameters or arguments for folders eg. directories:
Parameter Example 1:
Folder Path for all four File Explorer Views
Q-Dir "c:\" "d:\" "e:\" "f:\"
Parameter Example 2:
Folder Path for Explorer View 1
Q Dir.exe "D:\New Folder (2)"
Please use ► ... if possible the latest Q-Dir file manager version!
Parameter Example 3:
How to use Q-Dir select file command line?
like this "explorer /e,/select,d:\work\a.txt"
q-dir.exe /e,/select,"d:\folder\select file.txt"
q-dir.exe /e,/select, "d:\folder\select file.txt"
That's what I had tried, but without quotation marks. And always get the message: 'Failed to open the source file'. And I'm so in the next issue.
Q Dir.exe "Z: \" - works in the program directory, but
"C:\Program Files\Q-Dir\Q-Dir.exe" "Z:\" - from a bat does not work!
From the bat, you should use environment variable:
Maybe, the folder "Program Files" does not exist ;-)
Path Parameter Example 3:
"C:\Program Files\Q-Dir\Q Dir.exe" "Z:\"
Better Path Parameter Example 4:
"%Program Files%\Q-Dir\Q-Dir.exe" "Z: \"
To environment variable:
Maybe, the folder "Program Files" does not exist in the CMD :-).
User Question: I am stuck with a small problem!
I am on WIN 10 (64)
I handle different projects at different times.
Whenever I handle a project, I want about half a dozen related folders to be opened in File Explorer.
That would be easy for me while Saving or Save As, make PDF, Export etc.
This can be done by a batch file.
This is how i do it
start "E:\Telugu Books\Possible duplicates"
start "E:\Telugu Books\Kadal Amudham"
The first two lines works fine.
The folders Times and WEB opens up perfectly
The Third and fourth lines do not work.
The general syntax is that, whenever there is a space in folder or file name, it should be within quotes.
That's what I have done.
But it doesn't work
Do you have any utility which has this problem already solved?
If not... can you think of developing one?

run well, but open in 4 windows mode.
How to open in a "one windows only" ?
- How to open current folder in Q-Dir from a command line?It works fine for full path:
I encounter one problem, though.
To keep this short. I wrote a simple batch file called C:\test.bat as such:
Then, in Q-Dir, I added new Program entry at Options->Programs as such:
test.bat=C:\test.bat=%curdir% %curdir1% %curdir2% %curdir3% %curdir4%
Now, the problem is, if I turn on 2x2 view layout and I change directories to i.e. C:\ in the 1st view, D:\ in 2nd, E:\ in 3rd and F:\ in 4th (my disk partitions) then after starting test.bat i.e. from within the 3rd view, where path is E:\, the output I get is:
I wanted to add WinDiff or a similar application that compares 2 folders, but whatever variable (%curdir%, %curdir1% etc.) I use in the program entry as the parameter it is always replaced with the path to the currently active directory.
That shoudn't be I think. Maybe I am missing something. Please help.
