10.) FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions about MagicMouseMove

1. How does MagicMouseMove work exactly?

MagicMouseMove monitors your mouse position in the background. As soon as the configured inactivity period (e.g., 90 seconds) is reached and no mouse movement is detected, the tool automatically starts a "magical" movement. This movement is executed step by step, smoothly and naturally. As soon as you move the mouse yourself again, the timer resets and the process starts over.

2. How can I exit or temporarily disable MagicMouseMove?

It's very simple: The tool runs discreetly in the system tray (by the clock). A right-click on the icon opens a context menu. There you can disable MagicMouseMove at any time or completely exit it.

3. What happens if I move my mouse myself during an automatic movement?

As soon as the tool detects your own mouse movement, the timer resets immediately. The ongoing automatic movement stops, and the tool begins counting down again until the next period of inactivity. Your own interaction always takes priority.

4. How is user inactivity detected?

The program continuously monitors your mouse position. As long as the mouse cursor does not move or moves only within an adjustable pixel tolerance, MagicMouseMove assumes inactivity. A movement is only started after the configured time has elapsed (e.g., 90 seconds).

5. Can I leave MagicMouseMove running in the background permanently?

Yes, the tool is designed for that. It runs discreetly in the tray and can be used as a kind of background service. However, you always have control via the tray icon to disable or exit it.

6. Does MagicMouseMove also disable automatic mouse movement when I use the keyboard?

No, by default MagicMouseMove does not respond to keyboard activity. The tool exclusively monitors mouse position. This means: If you do not move the mouse but are typing on the keyboard, this is not recognized as user activity by the program. The automatic mouse movement would still start after the configured inactivity period.

Why is that?
MagicMouseMove was specifically developed for scenarios where you are away from the screen (e.g., bathroom break, short pause). It assumes that you are using neither mouse nor keyboard.

Possible solutions:
If you want keyboard inputs to also reset the timer, you have the following options:

- Use an additional macro tool (e.g., AutoHotkey) that detects keyboard input and then triggers a minimal mouse movement – this indirectly resets the timer of MagicMouseMove.

- Ask the developer (SoftwareOK) whether an extension for "keyboard detection" is planned in a future version.

Currently: MagicMouseMove is a pure mouse inactivity tool and not a comprehensive activity monitor for keyboard and mouse.
