AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU

Upgrading from Windows 11 to Windows 12 could face the same problem as Windows 11: some PCs may not meet the requirements for TPM (Trusted Platform Module) or CPU.

For Windows 11, there was a way to force the upgrade on unsupported devices by setting a registry key called AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU. It is likely that a similar method will be available for Windows 12 as well.

To set this registry key, this process followed in Windows 11:

1. Open

Registry Editor - Press Windows + R, type regedit and confirm with Enter.

2. Navigate
to the path
- Go to the following registry path:

3. Create

new DWORD value - Right-click on an empty space in the right window and select New > DWORD value (32-bit).
- Name the new value AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU.

4. Change

Value - Double-click on the newly created entry and set the value to 1.

5. Restart

PC - Restart the PC to apply the changes.

After setting this key, it became possible in Windows 11 to perform the upgrade even on devices that do not meet the official hardware requirements. It remains to be seen if Microsoft will keep this method for Windows 12, but based on the way it has been done so far, there could be a similar possibility.
