How to set the keyboard delay when writing under Windows?

You can set the keyboard speed and the typing delay when typing under Windows 11, 10, ... and MS Server OS quite easily!

Contents:

1.)  ... open the options of the Windows keyboard!
2.)  ... Create a desktop shortcut for the keyboard options!
3.)  ... Keyboard options in Windows Start (Menu) practical with MS-Surface Pro and GO!
4.) ... What should I watch out for when changing the keyboard settings!

1.) Open the options of the Windows keyboard!

You can find the keyboard options in the Windows Control Panel, but it's even faster using
the key combinations [Windows + R] and the main.cpl @1 command!

You can now easily change the keyboard delay and refresh rate in Windows Keyboard Properties.

Here you will find values for repetition delay and repetition waiting time. If your keyboard is too fast, change it from short to long. If it's too fast, change this from Short and Low.

If your keyboard responds too slowly, or even too quickly, it can turn the simplest typing task into a mess. Fortunately, it's easy to adjust your keyboard's responsiveness.

When you type on a keyboard, everyone would hope that the words on your screen would come up at a constant speed. However, it's not uncommon for keyboard response times to lag behind the typing skills of faster typists, or for you to overtake those who need more time to adapt to learning a new keyboard.

2.) Create a desktop shortcut for the keyboard options!

Please press the Windows logo + D key combination to see the Windows 10 desktop!

Right-click on the desktop, select "New" ► "Shortcut".

And enter the following command:  main.cpl @1

Click the “Next” button and use “Keyboard” for the desktop shortcut names .

If you want to change the symbol: Right click on the link you have just created and open the "Properties" option. and select C:\Windows\System\main.cpl as the symbol file and select the keyboard settings symbol!

3.) Keyboard options in the Windows Start (Menu) practical with MS-Surface Pro and GO!

Especially when you are out and about on the MS Surface, whether PRO or GO , you want to have most options accessible via Windows Start, or if you want to start the keyboard options via the Windows Start menu or from the desktop taskbar, you don't need a lot of Windows expertise own. Via the keyboard options desktop shortcut you also have the option to make the keyboard options even more accessible. Just right-click on the desktop shortcut and pin it to Start and the taskbar.

4.) What should I watch out for when changing the keyboard settings!

If the keyboard is not typing the correct characters, the wrong input language may be selected. Modern operating systems have the ability to enter many languages and if you have multiple languages enabled it is very easy to accidentally switch between them. If you're using a laptop without a number pad, your NumLock key may be the culprit.

See: ►  Change Windows 10 keyboard settings (language, customize) !

Info:
Note that when switching between languages in Windows, the settings are configured per application. You will need to change the input language depending on which program you are using. It's very easy to do with the language bar that pops up automatically when you add another language in Windows. ( ... see picture-4 )

Tip:
Always type on a slanted keyboard, it is much easier to type on a slanted keyboard than a flat keyboard. If you are using a desktop computer keyboard that is flat, turn the keyboard over and adjust the legs so that the keyboard is tilted slightly. If you're on a laptop, you can buy a stand to tilt the keyboard at a slight angle.
