The solution is simple to show folder total size in the File-Explorer Status-Bar of the Quad-Explorer Q-Dir on all MS Windows OS!You can see File Information in the Microsoft File Explorer status bar, this has been reduced to a minimum of information in order to see it as before, for more info in the status bar you can customize the alternative Quad Explorer Status Bar. 2.) Other possibilities to see the folder size in Explorer Views!
In Windows 10/8.1/7 there are no extensions for the MS Explorer. On this occasion, I have it in Quad-Directory-Explorer integrated.To keep the space: I have used the column "Size" to show the folder-size information. And the column "Type" for folders and file number for each folder, including sub folders.
To change the options please use the Keyboard Shortcut Key [F9] and customize the options on you individual needs. (... see Image-2 Point 1 to 3)

3.) ... What should I watch out for when it comes to folder size on MS Windows OS?
Folder Size in Status or in File Explorer Columns is very popular and willingly used by all File Explorer users in MS Windows OS. Of course it takes time to determine the folder size, but it is very practical. With the latest SSD drives, however, it is not so important. And the cost-benefit factor is relatively good when determining the folder size under MS Windows. The immediate recognition of the folder size is just very beneficial!
