How the hell can I preview PDF files of Adobe?

Ooohhh yes! PDF preview is possible when Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0 is installed (Q-Dir >3.13).
as proof a nice preview picture!
Q-Dir uses extensions of the system don't have to renounce what they have;)!

Q-Dir is suitable for Microsoft Windwos :
Servers 2000 / 2003 / 2005 / 2008 Win 98 / XP / Vista and Windows Seven x64 and x86
