To include or exclude compressed files and folders in Windows 8 when searching for files, open or launch the Windows 8 Folder Options in Windows Explorer via Win-8 Explorer menu, or use the Run command dialog in Windows 8 and Windows 10!
Solution 1: Via the Run dialog
Solution 2: Via the Windows 8 Explorer
Use the key combination [Windows + R] and command RunDll32.exe shell32.dll, Options_RunDLL 2 and press [Enter] key. Then in the group field "when searching non-indexed locations" Enable or Disable (Check/Uncheck) the option: "Include compressed files (&ZIP, CAB...)" (... see Image-1 Arrow-1 and 2).
Please use the Windows 8 Hot-Key [Windows] + [E] then [Alt] + [A] to see the Explorer menu! Click View and now simply click Options to open the Folder Options and open the Search tab.
Here also in the group box "when searching non-indexed locations" activate or deactivate
the option: "Include compressed files (&ZIP, CAB...)" (... see Image-2 Arrow-1,2,3, and 4).
